It's about the Moment

Before we delve into the countdown, remember that the right cigar can always change depending on the moment. I believe it's not up to you to choose the cigar; it's the moment that chooses the cigar.

Honorable Mentions

Before we start the countdown, let's give a shout-out to some honorable mentions that almost made the list. There are so many fantastic cigars out there that it's tough to pick just five.

Now, let the countdown begin...

5. Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour (Churchill Vitola)

  • Size: 7” x 48

  • Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés

  • Filler & Binder: Dominican Republic and Nicaragua

  • Price: $28.00

Most Davidoff cigars are on the mild side of cigars strength, but the Winston Churchill Late Hour line is definitely an exception. It's offering med-full body and strength with tons of flavor, complexity, and transitions. Expect woodsy and spicy notes with hints of sweetness, perfect for a post-dinner smoke.

Tip: Avoid extra spicy foods or hot sauce before smoking. These can dull your palate and detract from your cigar enjoyment.

4. Arturo Fuente Extra Anejo (888 Vitola)

  • Size: 6 ⅝ x 44 RG

  • Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf

  • Filler & Binder: Dominican Republic

  • Price: $14.00

This line from Arturo Fuente is bourbon barrel-aged for five years, resulting in a rich and flavorful cigar. It's said to be similar to the Opus X blend by Arturo Fuente with the main difference being the wrapper. It's rolled in a Connecticut Broadleaf instead of the Dominican grown wrappers found on the Opus X.

When you want strength, flavorful notes with complexity, this is a great pick!

Tip: Cleanse your palate before lighting up. Brush your teeth, drink water, or eat palate-cleansing foods like raw almonds.

3. Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generacion V Salomon

  • Size: 7”x 58 RG

  • Wrapper, Filler, & Binder: All Nicaraguan

  • Price: $23.00

The Alma Fuerte by Plasencia has got to be one of my all time favorite smokes. Keep in mind it's a 'big boy' cigar that has a substantial burn time of +2.5 hours.

But don't let that deter you away from this magnificent cigar journey! It offers a smoking experience with very distinct transitions through each third as it burns through. It's like picking up a whole new cigar at each transition.

Tip: Delay your cigar session for 30 minutes after dinner to reset your palate and fully savor the cigar's flavors.

2. Padron 1964 Natural (Imperial Vitola)

  • Size: 6” x 54 RG (Box-pressed)

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Puro

  • Price: $19.00

Smoking a Padron 1964 is an unparalleled experience. Most notable for quality construction, burn, and draw. And another thing Padron is most known for is curating perhaps the strongest cigars in the premium Cigar world.

Thanks to the over a decade aged tobaccos it offers earthy, woodsy, and natural tobacco flavor notes, with occasional hints of pepper, dark chocolate, or coffee.

Tip: Choose a cigar with intense flavors. Cigars with a Maduro wrapper is an excellent choice. The dark and oily wrapper will have plenty of kick for your palate.

1. Fuente Fuente Opus X Perfecxion (888 Vitola)

  • Size: 6 ⅞ “ x 44

  • Wrapper: Dominican Republic Puro

  • Price: $28.00

The Opus X Perfecxion tops the list for its sweet, spicy, and full-bodied flavors. Dominican tobacco provides a unique sweet and spicy flavor profile that's not found anywhere else. With it's sweet syrupy, floral, and creamy notes, along with a daily dose of strength the Opus X is a cut above.

Top Tip: Opt for medium-full body and strength cigars. Mild cigars with a Connecticut wrapper are great for early and mid-day smokes but won't cut it after a big dinner.

There you have it my fellow BOTL! My top 5 cigars for post-dinner indulgence. Remember, the right cigar can elevate your evening feast to an unforgettable experience. Enjoy and savor the moment.
